Up all night?

cover for chris hokanson\'s graphic design portfolio

It’s almost 2 a.m. and I’m getting what might be my last taste of the late night hours as a graphic designer. I’m at The Battalion office working on my portfolio for my Graphic Design 2 class (the picture above is the cover). Why am I here so late? Somehow, all of the work I accomplished on my portfolio from noon to 4 p.m. today (before I started my Battalion work) has magically disappeared. A whole folder of stuff just vanished into digital nothingness (or, the more likely explanation: I deleted it without knowing.) Luckily, everything didn’t disappear. I had all my work from the previous day backed up on my flash drive. But 4 hours is a lot of work to lose.

So now I’m full of pancakes and coffee, and I’m burning the midnight oil. I really want to finish my portfolio tonight, even though it’s due Wednesday, because printing and binding will take awhile, and I want to get started on my 25-page anthropology paper that’s due Thursday.

The good thing is, I have an end-goal in sight. I can see graduation just over the horizon. I just never expected the run right before the finish line would be such an uphill climb!
