List of Global Warming deniers diminishing. Why? They weren’t deniers in the first place.

The Heartland Institute has listed some 500 “scientists” who have documented doubt of human-induced global warming. While we’ve known for some time that many of these scientists specialize in fields that have nothing to do with climate (many of them are economists), there is still a good number of real scientists on that list. But that number is quickly diminishing. And by quickly, I mean in the last 24 hours. The folks at DeSmogBlog have taken it upon themselves to see what these scientists feel about their names being added to Heartland’s list. In the day since DeSmogBlog contacted roughly 130 people on the list, 45 of them have replied with suprise and disgust, stating that they didn’t know they were on that list and requested to be removed from it immediately.

I am horrified to find my name on such a list. I have spent the last 20 years arguing the opposite.”

Dr. David Sugden. Professor of Geography, University of Edinburgh

“I have NO doubts ..the recent changes in global climate ARE man-induced. I insist that you immediately remove my name from this list since I did not give you permission to put it there.”

Dr. Gregory Cutter, Professor, Department of Ocean, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Old Dominion University

So much for scientific opposition to global warming. Looks like the only opposition to it is coming from Rush Limbaugh and the Bush administration. You can read more quotes from the scientists who asked to be removed from the list here.
